E-Commerce Platform Built From Scratch

From startup to a high-traffic e-commerce business

Project Overview
BeerBaller is a German e-commerce brand focused on party equipment such as beer pong tables and accessories. The project began in an early startup phase with only a very rudimentary website and no scalable digital infrastructure. I set out to build a robust, scalable online shop and establish a strong foundation for long-term growth.

Responsibilities
Within the startup, I took full responsibility for the e-commerce platform. My scope covered concept development, UX/UI design, frontend and backend implementation, WooCommerce customization, and continuous optimization throughout the entire project lifecycle.
I built the platform using WordPress with a fully custom theme and WooCommerce, extended through custom PHP and JavaScript logic. Hosting on Google Cloud provided a scalable infrastructure capable of handling increasing traffic and order volumes.

Design & Conversion Focus
My design approach was strongly conversion-focused, emphasizing clear product presentation, intuitive navigation, and fast checkout flows. Custom product templates and dedicated branding pages supported marketing campaigns and reinforced a consistent visual identity.

Performance & Growth
Performance and SEO were integral from the beginning. I implemented clean URL structures, structured data, optimized images, and CMS-driven meta data. This resulted in strong organic visibility, including top rankings in Germany for keywords such as Beer Pong, Party Equipment, and Beste Teamnamen.
Over several years, I scaled the platform from fewer than 1,000 monthly page views to approximately 150,000 monthly visits, generating more than 1,700 online sales per month. This sustained growth contributed to the successful sale of the company in 2025.
